The History of Paul Sheppard Blacksmiths

About Paul:

With a love of horses, Paul Sheppard began his career with aspirations of being a farrier, a traditional and related craft to care for horses’ feet and make and fit their shoes. While training with hot metal over the forge and anvil, his passion for the age-old craft of blacksmithing was sparked.

Paul is now an approved journeyman of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths after completing a National Diploma in Blacksmithing and Metalwork and demonstrating his intuitive and high standards at Hereford’s internationally acclaimed Blacksmithing College.

About the team:
We specialise in crafting almost anything from metal, from the purely functional to the purely decorative, from small interior pieces to large exterior installations.

The tools we use daily are the hammer, the anvil, the tongs and the forge to heat, treat, weld and manipulate hot metal.

Each design is unique to the customer and we specialise in companion working with glass, brass, stainless steel and copper to create high quality bespoke architectural and ornamental ironwork and artistic commissions.

Over the years we have been lucky enough to work with hundreds of delighted customers to create beautiful work that will stand the test of time and is 100 per cent unique. To hear from some of our customers please visit our  testimonials page.

We make everyday items such as gates, railings, balustrades, balconies, staircases, handrails and curtain rails for both new and listed buildings.

We also undertake a wide range of artistic commissions crafting unusual and personal items on demand. Some recent examples include church baptismal pool covers, feature railings, fire companion sets, fire guards, candelabras or beautiful benches.

What links all our work together is the quality of the design, the craftsmanship and the attention to detail evident in each piece. Please visit our portfolio page to browse through some of our designs.
